Cloudmachine

LIVE: Ruud Houweling with Egon Kracht and Amir Swaab

parktheater1

On Thursday April 9th I’ll be playing at the Parktheater in Alphen aan den Rijn, with two musicians I admire: Egon Kracht on double bass and Amir Swaab on grand piano and accordion. We’ll play some of my recent songs and new interpretations of the best Cloudmachine songs. The theater is very charming and a personal favorite (since it’s in the town I was born). I’m excited about this evening, it’s the first step on a new path. I hope to see you there…

Reservations can be made through this link.

Cloudmachine wants to thank you for listening

Over the last ten years Cloudmachine recorded four albums and experienced countless great adventures. Within the group many personal qualities came together which taught and brought us a lot. Each and everyone of us gave his best and worked hard for the love of music and the pleasure of playing together.

Each of those four albums got many wonderful reviews. The last two were of international standards. Back On Land was a part American and A Gentle Sting a part English production. We had some good airplay in the US with over 150 college radio stations, but also worldwide on for instance Radio Paradise. We’ve traveled and experienced how differently making music is in other countries. An American award confirmed the band’s craftsmanship. The last three albums make us feel proud and to speak on my own behalf, on each of those reords are a few songs that have captured something significant for me.

For me personally the time has come to end Cloudmachine and to move ahead alone on my own musical path. For creative reasons. I feel a desire to discover new things. Realizing this I notice how much we have grown attached to eachother and saying goodbye was not an easy decision.

Thankfully, over the years we’ve met some wonderful people within the Dutch music industry who welcomed us with their visors up. We are very grateful to you for the opportunities or attention you gave us. For sticking out your necks or backing us up. Thank you. Bookers, journalists, radio dj’s, Mascha and Yvo. And ofcourse the listeners who appreciated our music, who bought our records and came to our shows, from inside and outside of the Netherlands. Your warm and sometimes touching response kept us pouring our love into Cloudmachine for over 10 years. Not because we were looking for the spotlight but because we wanted to create the best work possible within our possibilities. This may not have brought us great fame but it brought us a lot nevertheless. With our songs we’ve reached people in over 190 countries. Experiences, interactions, friends. Things of value that can’t be measured. Knowing this makes the feeling of loss of the moment a little easier.

Our albums will still be available. On CD through (online) stores, and as streams or as downloads through Amazon, iTunes and just about every digital store around the world. The website will be maintained. So will our Facebook page. We will take good care of the things we have created together.
Now it’s time for something new. Thank you all for your support.

New York shows

New York

Ruud came back from an amazing trip to New York City and had such a great time.  He loved meeting everybody who came to listen and met so many wonderful people, made new friends, had special moments with old friends who made the effort to come see him play. Ten shows in ten days. Heart warming response. Sharing the stage with so many talented New York musicians. Trying out new songs. Thank you hosts for your hospitality. Thanks You Live In Your Living Room for this opportunity. New York, thank you for being such an inspiration. Check out Ruud’s Facebook photo-report.
